Following two devastating earthquakes last Friday, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar launched an emergency Chinese-Myanmar-English translation system developed on the DeepSeek platform. The tool was created in just seven hours by the National Language Service Corps of China and Beijing Language and Culture University. The 7.7 and 6.4 magnitude earthquakes, which struck Myanmar’s Sagaing region, have resulted in nearly 2,900 deaths, more than 4,600 injuries, and hundreds of missing persons, according to Myanmar’s State Administration Council. Language barriers have complicated rescue operations, but more than 700 people have used the DeepSeek-powered system to facilitate communication among international aid teams.
